Wendy Richmond, Rocks TVs (2013)

Wendy Richmond Rocks TVs is an installation of eighty short videos playing on approximately twenty old TVs. The videos show a character of unknown identity kicking down, sweeping away and picking apart the plethora of rock sculptures – some elaborate and labor-intensive, some slap-dash and trivial – that visitors have built on the rocky coast of Maine.

How do we come to know a place of beauty? How do we make it a lasting memory? Some of us mark our stay by building. I chose, instead, to clear away.
